Each SATA disk in the Turnkey Storage unit can be individually accessible on the network (JBOD) or can be combined into RAID sets. These each present a SATA-SAN device to the network. Device discovery with SATA-SAN is almost instant and plug-and-play, without requiring cumbersome and confusing IP/DHCP settings.
With the SATA-SAN software installed on a Mac or PC, SATA-SAN devices appear as internal disk drives to clients on the network and can be formatted and partitioned with normal disk management utilities such as Disk Management on Windows and Apple's Disk Utility on Mac. They can also be striped, mirrored and further combined using software RAID on Windows and Mac.
