With 2ºFrost's proprietary SAN-Adapt™ software, SATA-SAN supports cross-platform SAN shared filesystems FibreJet and MetaSAN which provide complementary high-performance cross-platform approaches to SAN file and volume sharing for content creation, video and audio editing SAN workgroups and shared Server storage.

We've worked with both of these companies to bring their software to the SATA-SAN platform and integrate it into our solution-level offerings.

FibreJet

FibreJet, available for Mac (Intel and PPC) and Windows, lets you share files and volumes of virtually unlimited size over a SATA-SAN based ethernet network. Virtually unlimited systems on the SAN can read and write to shared storage simultaneously. It is also a great choice for video editing SANs, especially for customers upgrading to a SAN from the common "multiple firewire drives" scenario and its built-in project management makes managing storage for different projects easy.

For audio editing SANs FibreJet is the preferred solution as it supports Pro Tools software.

MetaSAN

MetaSAN provides features and benefits similar to Apple's XSan i.e. to simultaneously access a common pool of data files such as video clips, databases, satellite imagery, medical archives, or CAD files - as easily and transparently as if the content was stored on their local drive.

MetaSAN 2.2 is available for Mac (Intel and PPC), Windows and Linux from 2ºFrost as Worldwide Distributors of MetaSAN for use with AoE and SATA-SAN storage.

MetaSAN is managed by a graphical interface, and is a great choice for sharing video files, creative workgroups, and server storage. It has none of the disadvantages of XSan as , for example, it does not change the file system format on SAN volumes, keeping them as either HFS+ or Windows NTFS and yes, it's cross platform, providing access from Mac and Windows clients to Mac and Windows format volumes.
